'Fineline' Buckthorn Shrubs

Description

Fernlike foliage turns yellow in fall. Ideal for containers and narrow beds. Non-invasive. Do not eat berries. Deer resistant. Great for a wide range of uses including narrow hedges or screens, accent specimen, patio planters, and combination planters. Good in perennial and shrub borders. Can be used to frame doors and pathways.

Maintenance Notes:

Very adaptable, prefers well-drained soil. No pruning is usually required, but may be pruned in late fall to remove dead or broken branches. Medium moisture, can tolerate dry conditions once established. Attracts birds in the fall. Fertilize in early spring by applying a slow release fertilizer specialized for trees and shrubs. Follow the label for recommended rate of application.

Wonderful texture and a narrow form combine in a tough, adaptable plant.

A great landscape plant, Fine Line buckthorn combines the feathery foliage of 'Aspenifolia' with the narrow upright habit of 'Columnaris.' Use Fine Line in narrow hedgerows for privacy, as an accent plant, or even in a patio container. It's a great vertical accent for the perennial garden, and the narrow habit is perfect for framing entrances. This is an extremely useful, architectural plant for the home or commercial landscape. This cultivar produces very few fruit, none of which have been shown to be viable. Fine Line Rhamnus is a responsible and environmentally friendly replacement for weedy, older varieties.
